“The final NCEA results for 2016 show just how well our students are achieving and how many more young people are able to tap into the opportunities that a good education offers” said Coromandel MP Scott Simpson.
“I am very proud of the hard work of students and teachers is paying off, with achievement up across the board.
Results from schools in the Coromandel electorate have seen Year 12 NCEA Level 2 achievement lifting from 66.4 per cent in 2008 to 81.7 per cent last year.
“That’s a huge increase and means hundreds more local young people are leaving school with a meaningful qualification.
“These final NCEA results for 2016 show how well our students are achieving and how many more are able to tap into the opportunities that a good education offers.
"I also want to acknowledge outgoing Education Minister Hekia Parata who has championed an evidence-based approach to ensure New Zealand has a world-class education system.
“On her watch she has presided over a major modernisation of our schools and enhanced collaboration through Communities of Learning | Kahui Ako to provide personalised pathways for children right through their education” said Mr Simpson.
“Hekia’s made a great contribution as Education Minister."
