Colville Social Service Collective Charitable to receive funding for community project
National Party MP for Coromandel Scott Simpson is welcoming the news that Colville Social Service Collective Charitable group will receive $80,000 in funding, for the next three years, as part of the Community Development Scheme 2015.
Twelve community groups will benefit from the $2.88 million in funding from the Community Development Scheme, which will fund a variety of projects including relationship building, improving connections with the community, and building capability. The scheme encourages groups to come up with local solutions to local issues, particularly for rural and isolated communities.
“This funding will be a big help to Colville Social Service Collective Charitable by enabling them to employ a community development project worker who will assist them to work together in new ways, generate their own solutions to local issues, and work towards a more self-reliant and resilient community,” says Scott Simpson.
“By focussing on skill-sharing and the exchange of knowledge in our community, the scheme provides wins for everyone involved. Most importantly, this scheme supports groups who work hard to ensure our communities are vibrant, positive places to live.
“There are many groups making positive contributions in our community here, and across New Zealand. I hope this funding encourages other groups to get involved within our community”, Scott Simpson says.
