“Having recreational fishers record their catches is not the answer to managing fish stock says Coromandel MP,” Scott Simpson.

“A suggestion that under proposals to create a recreational fishing reserve in the Hauraki Gulf, fishers might have to record their catches is wrong” says Mr Simpson.

“I’m pleased Environment Minister Nick Smith has closed down talk of that and rejected the idea” he said.

Public submissions on the Government’s discussion paper on Marine Protected Areas close this Friday 11th March.
