Zero Tolerance for Zero-hour contracts says MP Scott Simpson

Friday, March 11, 2016

“Yesterday was a very momentous day when Parliament voted unanimously for the abolition of zero- hour contracts” said Coromandel MP Scott Simpson.

“I was very happy to vote to end this unfair employment practice. It was good to be there  in Parliament’s  debating chamber when the vote was taken and to be part of an historic vote”.

“Its  just wrong to expect employees to sign up to an agreement to be available for any hours of work, where they are available to work when required but where there is absolutely no commitment from their employer of any actual work hours at all”.

“I am really pleased Parliament has voted unanimously to bring these zero-hours contracts to an end”.
