Two Coromandel electorate schools will have new classrooms built as part of a $2.7 million dollar investment to build eight new classrooms at schools in the Bay of Plenty and Coromandel, five of which will be here in our patch, says local MP Scott Simpson.

“Katikati Primary School will benefit from three new classrooms, and Tairua School will get two,” Mr Simpson said.

Today’s announcement is part of a second round of investments in new classrooms under Budget 2016, which provides $882.5 million for school property, including 480 classrooms nationwide to meet roll growth.

“These modern classrooms will be fit with high standards of acoustics, lighting, and ventilation, and will feature the latest IT infrastructure to support digital learning.”

“The Coromandel is experiencing population growth, which naturally is having a flow-on effect on our school rolls. These new classrooms will provide an excellent learning environment and support our students to achieve the very best of their potential,” Mr Simpson said.
