Simon Bridges will be an excellent new leader of the National Party says Coromandel MP Scott Simpson.
Commenting just after the election of the Tauranga MP as Leader of the Opposition and Paula Bennett’s re-election as National’s deputy leader, Mr Simpson says, “Simon brings a new fresh approach to politics and the National Party”.
“I know he’ll be a very good leader and he has my 100% support.
“Simon Bridges and Paula Bennett are a powerful team. I’m looking forward to working with them and all my National Party colleagues as together we focus on the 2020 election.
“We’re all united in our objective of holding this accidental new Government to account for the huge promises they made to New Zealand voters last year.
“Simon has the intellect and the motivation to ensure National’s policy focus is on the issues important to Coromandel people and all New Zealanders.
“I know he shares my love of our beautiful natural environment and that he supports and cares for it as much as I do.
“I’ve got my fingers crossed that he will ask me to continue on as National’s Environment Spokesperson but that’s a decision for him.
